The Autobiography of Saint Ignatius of Loyola - Audio Book

Saint Ignatius of Loyola
This account of the life of St. Ignatius, dictated by himself to Father Gonzalez, is a most valuable record of the great Founder of the Society of Jesus. It, more than any other work, gives an insight into the spiritual life of St. Ignatius. Few works in ascetical literature, except the writings of St. Teresa and St. Augustine, impart such a knowledge of the soul. The saint in his narrative always refers to himself in the third person, and this mode of speech has here been retained. Many persons who have neither the time, nor, perhaps, the inclination, to read larger works, will read, we trust, with pleasure and profit this autobiography. Ignatius, as he lay wounded in his brother's house, read the lives of the saints to while away the time. Touched by grace, he cried, "What St. Francis and St. Dominic have done, that, by God's grace, I will do." May this little book, in like manner, inspire its readers with the desire of imitating St. Ignatius. This autobiography is a valuable key for the understanding of his Spiritual Exercises. It was kept in the archives for about 150 years

The Lectio Divina to Transform your Prayer Life – Tim Gray

Tim Gray
Dr. Tim Gray talks about the beauty and effectiveness of prayer with Lectio Divina (divine reading), which has been the way of praying of the Church and of all the saints for centuries. He explains in detail each of the 5 steps to Lectio Divina.
God wants to do something new in my old heart, in my old habits, in my old ways of thinking, he wants to breakthrough that and transforming. He wants to do that and transform you. And we have to be attentive to God´s word for him to do the new things in us. And that’s why I have a deep conviction that key to prayer is the listening the God´s word in scripture.
Isa 43:18-19 "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. (19) Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Our Lady and the Battle Against Satan for her Children - Marino Restrepo

Marino RestrepoMarino Restrepo reflects upon our Lady and the battle against Satan for her children, and this is about the a real spiritual warfare.
Revelations 12:1-12 And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; (2) she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery. (3) And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads. (4) His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; (5) she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, (6) and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which to be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days. (7) Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, (8) but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. (9) And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (10) And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. (11) And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. (12) Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"

The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Works of the Law - John Bergsma

Dr. John Bergsma
Dr. John Bergsma compares the meaning of works of the law in Catholic and Protestant theology, and shows us an unexpected light from the Dead Sea Scrolls on this major Christian controversy.

Protestant: “Works of the Law” are good works, indeed, any human effort to obey God (Martin Luther)
Catholic: “Works of the Law” means obedience to the Old (Mosaic) Covenant, especially its rituals. (St. Tomas Aquinas)
Protestant positions on this can became extreme.

Gal. 2:16: Yet who know that a man is not justified by “Works of the Law” but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by “Works of the Law”, because by “Works of the Law” shall no one be justified.

The Secrets of the Eucharist - Vinny Flynn

Vinny Flynn
Vinny Flynn talk about “The Secrets of the Eucharist” Based on the book "The 7 Secrets of the Eucharist"
  • Jesus is alive
  • Christ is not alone
  • There is only one mass
  • It is not just one miracle
  • We don´t just receive
  • Every reception of communion is different
  • There is no limit to the number of time you can receive
This is the first Mary Foundation talk based on a book. Pope John Paul II referred to the Holy Eucharist as "the greatest treasure of the Church," and yet most practicing Catholics have received very little in-depth or inspirational theological insight about this critical aspect of our spiritual lives since our school days.

Mr. Flynn's "secrets" are actually a series of surprising principles, insights, and "hidden" truths, presented together for the first time in one exciting talk. All seven secrets are based on truths found in the Bible, the writings of the Saints, the Catechism, and recent teachings of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict. These truths have always been embraced by the saints, Church Fathers, theologians, and mystics, but have never before been presented together, and rarely in such a meaningful and accessible way.

This talk also includes two "bonus secrets" about Our Lady's relationship to the Eucharist which are not found in Vinny Flynn's book. Vinny Flynn will show you how reception of the Eucharist can be a life-changing experience the very next time you receive Holy Communion.
John 6:53-56 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; (54) he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (55) For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. (56) He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.

Peter: The Rock, the Keys, the Chair, the Hand and the Ship - Steve Ray

Peter: The RockPeter, the Rock, the Keys & the Chair discusses the Jewish background to Peter and the papacy. Steve uses the Bible, history, geography, archaeology and common sense to make it clear that Peter and the papacy were Jesus' plan from the beginning - and how it is firmly rooted even in the Old Testament.

"Steve takes you on a journey to the huge rock at Caesarea Philippi where Jesus renamed Simon -- Peter, the Rock!""Amazing talk that always makes eyes go wide open. A great defense of the Catholic teaching on the Pope."

Stephen K. Ray was raised in a devout, loving Baptist family. His father was a deacon and Bible teacher and Stephen was very involved in the Baptist Church as a teacher of Biblical studies and lectured on a wide range of topics. Steve and his wife Janet entered the Catholic Church in 1994.
Matthew 16:18-19 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (19) I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Sharing the Gospel When It Is Difficult - Macus Grodi and Kenneth Howell

Macus Grodi and Dr. Kenneth Howell
Marcus Grodi and Dr. Kenneth Howell discuss How do we tell a world, how do we tell our neighbors, the truth about Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation, when the world, even our neighbors, no longer share the common Christian assumptions? How do you tell them about Jesus when they no longer accept the possibility of a Creator God? How do you correct Christians who have inaccurate views of the faith, of Jesus, of the Church, which they only hear you through the lenses of their prejudice, or ignorance? And when does our own pride get in the way when we are trying to help others break form the sin of pride? This is what we will start discussing today on Deep in Scripture. Please visit: http://DeepinScripture.com
Romans 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God for salvation to every one who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Being a Disciple and not Just a Fan of Jesus – Jeff Cavins

Jeff Cavins
Jeff Cavins talks about the importance of being a true disciple of Jesus and not just a fan who can not even give their lives for Christ.
Jesus who was a Jew, Jesus who was a Rabbi, turned the world upside down with 12 men, and I like to focus that one point today that I believe was critical in the changing of the world at that point is that Jesus had disciples, Jesus had disciples, he had men who are committed to following him and give up everything to follow him and those men who were not any particular talent or were not particularly well known, literally turned the world upside down without one single iPhone, or a couple of Androids, but there was not iPhones available.

Interpreting the Bible - Vic Scaravilli

Vic Scaravilli
In this 3-part mini-series, Catholic Apologist, Vic Scaravilli, reviews the Church's teaching for interpreting the Bible. Vic is studying for his Master's degree in Theology from Franciscan University, Steubenville.
Exegesis: The art and science of investigating and expressing the true sense of Sacred Scripture. Its function is to find out what exactly a given passage of the Bible says. Its rules are governed by the science of hermeneutics, whose practical application is the concern of exegesis. Given the depth and complexity of the biblical text, biblical exegesis has been practiced from pre-Christian times. –Modern Catholic Dictionary by Father John Hardon, pg 200.

Virgin Mary in the Scripture – Nicholas Lebish

Nicholas Lebish
Nicholas Lebish in this series teaches the Biblical foundation of what the church believes and teaches about the Blessed Virgin Mary, not only to know the Blessed Mother even more in a personal way, but also to understand her roll in salvation history.

CCC 487. What the Catholic faith believes about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ.
CCC 488. "God sent forth his Son", but to prepare a body for him, he wanted the free co-operation of a creature. For this, from all eternity God chose for the mother of his Son a daughter of Israel, a young Jewish woman of Nazareth in Galilee, "a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary": The Father of mercies willed that the Incarnation should be preceded by assent on the part of the predestined mother, so that just as a woman had a share in the coming of death, so also should a woman contribute to the coming of life.

Theology of the Body on the Street Level – Fr. Samuel Medley

Fr. Samuel Medley
Theology of the body on the street level is a course in six weeks, with no philosophical or theological background required with Fr. Samuel Medley from the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.

The theology of the body consists of a searching analysis of biblical texts that reveal the mystery of the body, sexuality, and marriage at three critical "levels" of human experience: as man experienced them "in the beginning" before sin (Original Man); as man experiences them in human history affected by sin, yet redeemed in Christ (Historical Man); and as man will experience them in the resurrection of the body (Eschatological Man).
Gn 1:26-27. Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

The Covenant - Scott Hahn

The Covenant - Scott Hahn
Scott Hahn talks about the differences between a partnership and a contract, and the importance of the alliance in the history of salvation.

I discovered the profound significance of covenant making and the profound difference between covenant making and contract making, because most Americans assumed that contracts and covenants are the same, I know and I did. And it took me years of study and prayer and reflection and learning before I recognize the difference. And then a begin to recognize what difference the difference make, because it’s enormous.

As I began reading through the Bible in high school, I made a discovery, that it’s more than a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, it’s a covenant, it’s a covenantal bond and God, it seems, was never content to just simply leave us in some generic personal relationship, the language of the Covenant is the language of the Bible…

Answering Protestant Questions about the 7 Sacraments - Karlo Broussard

Protestant questions about the 7 sacraments
In this two part talk, Karlo answers the most common Protestant questions about the seven sacraments. He gives an explanation of how all 7 sacraments can be found in the pages of God's Holy Word.

Karlo instructs the Catholic in a how-to approach for dialoguing with Protestants and proving the biblical testimony of the Catholic understanding of the 7 sacraments.

Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion

Where in the Bible does it say that Baptism acctually saves us and transform the soul, as the Catholic Church teaches?
How do we know that the water in John 3:5 is not the amniotic fluid of the mother, but is the waters of Baptism?
Where in the Bible does it say anything about an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that is Distinct from Baptism?
Why do Catholics believe that the Eucharist, i.e., the bread and wine of the Last Supper, is truly the body and blood of Jesus and not just a symbol?

Confession, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony and Holy Orders

Why should I go to some man for  the forgiveness of sins when I can go straight to God?
Where in the Bible does it say that Jesus transferred power to fogive sins to men?
Did the apostles ever recognize or practice the forgiveness of sins?
Is there any evidence in the Bible of the Catholic practice of anoiting sick people with oil?
Why doest´t the Catholic Church allow for divorce and remarriage in the case of spousal infidelity such as Jesus teaches in Matthew 19:9?
Where does the Bible say anything about a miniterial priesthood that is superior to the baptized priesthood?
